PASTOR CARSON FOSTER JONES, JR.

Biographical Highlights

Pastor Carson Foster Jones, Jr. is a native of Newport News, Virginia.  He is the son of the late Deacon and Deaconess Carson F. Jones, Sr. and Maggie Wilson Jones.  He is married to the former Vickie R. Arnold.  They are the parents of four children, and have cared for other children as licensed foster parents.

Pastor Jones accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and was baptized at the Zion Baptist Church in Newport News during the pastorate of the late Rev. S.S. Sutton. 

Pastor Jones earned the Associate of Arts degree from Ferrum College in Ferrum, Virginia, graduating with honors.  He continued his educational pursuits at the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia.  Following the completion of a tour of duty in the United States Army, Pastor Jones received the Bachelor of Science in Governmental Administration degree from Christopher Newport College (now Christopher Newport University) in Newport News, graduating cum laude.  In 1998, he earned the Master of Divinity degree from the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology, at Virginia Union University.

Prior to God calling him to his present place of service, Pastor Jones was a faithful member of the Gethsemane Baptist Church in Newport News, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Dwight S. Riddick, Sr.  He served at Gethsemane for nine years as the Minister of Christian Education and Assistant to the Pastor.  He also served at Gethsemane as a trustee, a member of the Gleaners Ministry, the Male Chorus, and taught the Youth Church School Class.  After much prayer and meditation, Pastor Jones accepted the call to the preaching ministry on May 19, 1992 and preached his initial sermon on August 23, 1992.  His was licensed by Gethsemane at that time and was ordained on June 27, 1993.

Pastor Jones was called as pastor of the Coley Springs Missionary Baptist Church of Warrenton, North Carolina on May 14, 1999.  While serving at Coley Springs, he has led the church in the revision of the church constitution, with greater emphasis on mission and ministry.  New ministries for children and adults have been established and existing ministries have been enhanced.  Coley Springs has also launched a capital campaign, including the acquisition of additional real estate property and renovations to the current church facility.  The church has also established a 501©3 corporation to enhance ministry efforts.  In September of 2015, Pastor Jones was elected as Moderator of the United Shiloh Missionary Baptist Association.  He also leads community Bible Studies at the Warren County Senior Center and is an active member of Warren Ministries United, an ecumenical outreach ministry group focused on meeting the needs of downtrodden persons in Warren County.  Pastor Jones continues to yield himself to the leading of the Holy Spirit in serving the Church of Jesus Christ.  To God be the Glory!  

LEADING LADY VICKIE JONES

BIOGRAPHICAL HIGHLIGHTS

Vickie R. Jones was born in Atlanta, Georgia to Lois Thaxton Arnold and the Late Charlie E. Arnold, Sr.  She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and Lord at an early age and was baptized at the Greater Travelers Rest Baptist Church in Atlanta.  She also joined her family in attendance at Cobb Memorial Holiness Church and Hillside International Chapel and Truth Center in Southwest Atlanta.  After relocating to the Tidewater area, she united with the Gethsemane Baptist Church in Newport News, where she met and married, the Reverend Carson F. Jones Jr.  She is a member of the first graduating class of the Gethsemane Bible Institute, was a founding member of the Friends Substance Abuse Ministry and served with the Ambassadors and Senior Ushers Ministry.  She taught Children’s Bible Study Class and later became a teacher in the Bible Institute.

Lady Jones attended the public schools of Atlanta, Georgia and is a graduate of Southwest High School.  Following a year of study at Atlanta Junior College, Sister Jones enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for ten years as a supply specialist.  She then worked in fast Foods, being promoted to the position of General Manager.  Eventually, Lady Jones embarked on the path to fulfilling her life-long goal of becoming a social worker.  She worked as a youth companion with Lutheran Family Services of Hampton, Virginia, before continuing her academic studies at Thomas Nelson Community College, where she earned an Associate of Arts degree, graduating with highest honors.  She later earned the Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from North Carolina Central University, graduating with high honors.  When her husband was called to the pastorate of the Coley Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Warrenton North Carolina, Lady Jones served as a Teacher Assistant in the Exceptional Children’s Program at South Warren Elementary School and C. A. Dillion Youth Development Center. She was employed as a Habilitation Technician with Resource Housing of America, and as the Parent Education Coordinator for the Vance County Cooperative Extension Service. Lady Jones served as a Social Work Investigator and Assessor in the Child Protective Services unit of the Vance County Department of Social Services.  She currently is the On Call Social Worker at Nash County Department of Social Services.

At Coley Springs, Lady Jones assists in coordinating the Children’s Ministry, including Children’s Church, and Children’s Bible Study. God also used her to establish the Recovery Ministry, serving those seeking to live victoriously over substance abuse.  She has been called on to proclaim a Word from the Lord on numerous occasions.  She continues to seek God’s guidance in serving the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
